Moyock’s Shingle Landing Park Updates
We’ve got a couple of improvement projects coming up at Shingle Landing Park!
- The resurfacing of the pickleball courts has been completed. The courts will reopen to the public on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
- The playground will be getting new safety surfacing and will be closed from Tuesday, October 7 through Monday, October 13, 2025. It’s scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, October 14, 2025,
Please do not allow children to play in the work zone during the closure. All other areas of the park will stay open and ready for you to enjoy.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.
Responsibilities of the Parks & Recreation Department
- Offers youth athletic programs. These include:
- Flag Football
- Tackle Football
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Girls Volleyball
- Cheerleading,
- T-Ball
- Baseball
- Softball
- Offers athletic programs for adults. These include:
- adult league softball (men and women)
- basketball league
- Operates the County’s public parks.
- Maintains public walking, hiking, horseback trail.
